** Official August 2024 Thread **

Just rented a confirmed DVC reservation for a standard studio at Poly in August! I’m traveling with my mom, husband and two kiddos. This will be our toddler’s first WDW trip and our preschooler’s third. Can’t wait!

I finally get to post again, though i had to create a new account, lol!

My son (25) and i will be at the Beach Club Villas from August 24-29! Since he was 3 yrs old and my daughter was 13 yrs old, we always went at least once a year, sometimes twice. Daughter grew up and has 7 (yes!) kids, we have taken the older 2 a couple of times...last in 2017. Son went to college, then covid came (while he was in China), then he went to Poland until he came back because of the conflict nearby and I have been taking grandkids to the beach each year, in batches, lol!

We are so ready to come back and stay at a deluxe for the first time!!! We're hoping the Food and Wine fest will be happening while we're there, Epcot is our favorite park.

So happy to be added to the August thread!

Just booked for August 20 - 28 with the summer discount at POP.
Just me, my daughter, and her 6-year-old daughter.
It will be hot but I'm looking forward to enjoying a trip where we are focusing on things a kid loves to do.
I was there in January with 2 of my adult kids in their 20s so we didn't do a lot of stuff because it was about the bigger attractions.

My fellow August travelers: What are your genie+ and ILL plans?

Last year, Aug 12 - Aug 17 we bought genie+ for every day and ILL for Rise, GOTG and TRON. I don't know that I need genie+ each day. For 5 people it is expensive. For 2 people, I'd get it every day and not think twice about it. I will definitely get it for MK and DHS. I don't need it at AK. I'm on the fence with Epcot. If Test Track is closed, then I'm leaning towards no.

I will buy Rise ILL for one day. Then, I don't have to deal with that in the morning and use early hours to start at TOT instead.

If Tiana is open and is ILL, I will definitely buy it at least once if not more.

My kids are pretty good at getting VQ, so I don't think I'll buy TRON unless we can't get VQ. I find that ride underwhelming. But we love GOTG, so I will buy ILL for that ride multiple times probably. I hope we can get VQ and ILL on at least 2 days.

With the free dining promo, I'm expecting the crowd and wait times will be higher this year

We are booked at POR for Aug 25-29th. It will be hot and probably rainy. But it is also a low crowd/low room rate period. :)

Our August dates are 8/25-29. Now that Food and Wine opens on Aug 29, we might need to change our dates.

So, very slight change of plans.

Disney gave DVC members 40% off rack rates for a significant period with limited rooms. Also, my girls want to hit the H2O Glow night on 8/10. We decided to save our points and go to the Poly from 8/4-11, shifting a day later. This way, we can use the points at Aulani next year and get a 1BR Villa! It's my younger one's (delayed) HS graduation trip, so I figured it's worth the upgrade. And when will we be going to Hawaii again?

94 days until Hard Rock at Universal and 98 days until Beach Club at Disney. @ShannyMcB - so excited to learn that Tiana's will be open for our trip. Our family loved Splash Mt (screen name 'Our Laughing Place' - Disney is definitely our laughing place and gives us a lot of family joy) so we are hopeful that we will enjoy this ride too:-)
We aren't doing any After Hours Parties, but we are looking forward to the Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe resorts. I hope EEH really do make for shorter wait times. Still not sold on Genie+ as we are rope drop people and usually get a lot done without it. Lots to think about still! Happy planning everyone.

DD30 and I are doing a resort-only trip, August 2-5, staying and the Polynesian! She and SIL were at Disney in early May and she got a BounceBack offer, making the Poly a little more within our budget, and no park tickets (as she was just there and I'm doing a solo trip in November) makes it even more affordable! We are PSYCHED to be staying at the Poly- I never, ever thought we'd be able to do this! Only 81 days to go!! (actually 80, as we are doing an airport hotel the night before we fly to Orlando!)

I found this thread a little late... but my 7 year old daughter and I are taking an Aug 2024 trip. It'll be my first time back in 10 years!! 😲 This is my daughters first trip ever.

We're in double digits on our countdown!! We'll be staying at POR in a Royal themed Room from Aug 18 - 23 and we have MNSSHP tickets for the 20th. I'm keeping the room and the party tickets a surprise for my daughter. We have fun outfits and ears and accessories and costumes all ready to go.

The only thing I have left is to get our ADR's in June. I'm hoping to get a late lunch at CRT the afternoon of the Halloween party and a breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at 'Ohana sometime during our stay, preferably the 22nd. Fingers crossed!!

One of our main goals for this trip is to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Splash Mountain was my absolute favorite ride growing up. My parents would take us on annual vacations to Disney and I would beg to ride that one over and over. I had the whole ride soundtrack memorized at one point, lol. I am beyond excited to see what they've done to it and Tiana is my daughters favorite princess. She has a Tiana dress for MNSSHP and meeting her at Princess Fairytale Hall is on her must-do list too.

I'm planning to get Genie+ each park day and ILL's (hopefully more than one) for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and GotG.
