New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

If the sky’s the limit then skyliner starts in NYC and goes down I95

In the WDW bubble, connect International Gateway stop to 7 Seas Lagoon by running up World Drive. That’s only how far I’ve gotten.

What stops would you like to see?
For your consideration. Branch lines from both the IG at Epcot and the main Skyliner station at CRB to Disney Springs.

I think one issue very important to them is what areas get crossed over, for evacuation and security purposes.

It’s a little hard to see here - the dotted line is where skyliner currently runs. I think the best shot at Disney Springs is coming off the Caribbean Beach hub.

There’s been rumors of a new resort opening toward the front of EP with direct park access. That would put it right behind Beach Club. If the monorail has an expiration date (where further investment is not better than expanding skyliner), then I’d expect to see Internation Gateway connected to Epcot front and then on up to the next stop - MK, following the existing monorail path.

I would love Riviera putting a walking path bridge into Germany Pavilion!

Just got back from our trip. Rode the new buses twice with a ECV. Driver had to help me and backed me up the ramp backwards and into the 1st ECV spot that faces backwards. I could have never have done it. I will say. The driver and I both struggled with getting the seatbelt that goes over your shoulder/waist to pull out long enough. I’m Pooh sized, 20/22 women’s, and we barely got the seatbelt hooked and it was tight. This happened both times. So fyi if you are bigger.

As to the walking path from Riviera to Germany, not likely to happen as it would traverse "backstage" areas.

Seat belt has 2 parts one part across waist and second strap cuts right across your neck and is very uncomfortable unless you pull it away from you and just hold it.

Yes. It was the top part across chest and neck area that is too tight. It wouldn’t extend any further. I couldn’t pull it away as it was already at max length just getting it to buckle. If I was any bigger it wouldn’t have been able to buckle at all. The driver actually asked if I’d rather not buckle it as it looked too tight.

You can refuse the seat belt if it causes you discomfort. The driver will need to send an automated message to dispatch. It is not a problem.

We were on one today. It holds three ecv/ wheelchair. Also they had us wait in the regular line leaving MK. Not pull aside.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "not pull aside" - did ECVS/Wheelchairs still board through the back door ahead of the other passengers or did everyone board through either door?

Maybe I don't understand. How do you know which way to go when you get to the bus stop? You don't know which kind of bus will be coming. I always go to either the HA gate if I'm at the park, or park in the HA box if I'm at a resort (or behind, of course, if someone else has already parked in the box).

For Magic Kingdom at least, you join the regular line. Towards the end there is a gate you go through and you load first. There used to be a separate waiting area that bypassed the line but those have been eliminated. Resorts may still have the separate waiting box from the main queue.

Yup. I was scolded at the MK for queuing up in what had been the separate waiting area. It's all very confusing since they can't load me first if I'm stuck half way through the line but there would have been room for me.

Well it’s very tricky now at MK…we got in regular line with ECV so we had people both in front and in back of us and 2 ECVs came just as bus arrived and pulled up in the ECV loading area and were immediately put on bus. By time we got far enough in line to get to the gate with handicap sign there wer already 2 more ECVs who had come around and were waiting for bus so we ended up behind them. Had to wait for a 3rd bus….

We were at MK a few weeks ago, and there was a WC/ECV queue. Some cast members even showed us where to wait. Perhaps there is variation in the bus stalls? We were waiting for Beach/Yacht club.

Disney needs to do a better job with signage clearly indicating where E C V/wheelchair users should enter the line in bus queues. I'm happy to follow the procedure, but how am I supposed to know when I should enter the regular line vs. entering the separately marked E C V/wheelchair line? They shouldn't have the E C V/wheelchair queue open if we're not supposed to use it.

Thank you! I've always gone directly to the ECV waiting area because that's what I thought I was supposed to do. And no one's ever told me differently. Granted, I've only left MK at "off" times-when there were maybe 10 other people on the bus. Now I'm really confused and somewhat embarrassed if I've been wrong all these years.

I've had CMs point me to the ECV waiting area in all the parks... when the line is packed, usually there is line up there also, it may be more than one bus that goes by before we get on. Its amazing how many people can squeeze on that night time bus even with strollers, kids fast asleep on shoulders, and people standing just cause they need to get back after a long day. Buses usually run pretty often around closing time, and it's not long before another shows up.

Don’t be embarrassed. We have always done this exact thing and have never been told otherwise. If a CM is there and directing everyone into the main queue, we’re happy to do it. We also tend to visit the parks during less crowded time (Aug/Sep).

I've also put my husband in the regular line when I've parked in the WC/ECV lane. I've had drivers ask me if I just got there or if I had been waiting for a while. I then point to my husband in line to show them where we would be if I didn't have the scooter. I get it. Loading a scooter and associated family members that just got there is not fair to the people standing in line. I remember being in a long line, tired and cranky just wanting to get on the bus and be on the way home when an ECV scoots up at the last minute.

Frankly, I don't care what the procedure is, as long as it's the same for everyone. Sometimes if I'm leaving at a busy time, I'll ask a CM in the bus section what I should do. If it's not busy, I just scoot into the WC/ECV line.

My experience was for an All-Star resort so very possible the process is different for higher level resorts. There was no box or sign anywhere. When I got halfway down the last row, a CM standing there opened a gate that had a very small handicap sign on it that wouldn’t be seen easily from farther away.
