When does it make sense to buy HHI or Vero Beach?

This year the summer dates we were considering at HHI (and decided not to do because of the lack of restaurant on property) were readily available at 7 months, but they do book up and are now gone.

Vero maintains availability even longer than that.... If they had higher demand they might make more sense to purchase....

Just an FYI - there are tons of great restaurants within a very short walking distance of the resort. They specifically didn’t do an onsite restaurant because of all the fantastic local options.

Yes, I have heard that... We have an infant, and some family food allergies too... The two put together make us interested in sticking to Disney dining right now.

Totally understand the food allergies. I have a rare food allergy, and I’ve had good luck at several restaurants on the island. But I totally agree—Disney is amazing when it comes to dealing with food allergies!

How flexible can you be with dates? It the answer is even a little bit, you can almost certainly trade into a 1BR at 7 months in Sept/Oct.

it’s not impossible that you’ll get locked out, especially if you don’t book right at 7 months, but if it were me, I’d be comfortable buying OKW or SSR points to trade to HHI.

Our dates would be very flexible. We have never had an issue in May or September but only for a studio and never for the summer. I read a lot about having to own at HHI to book there in the summer but how true is this really? We wouldn't be looking to go during a holiday week.
